What is ‘fresh friends’ about?
Fresh Friends is Australia’s first real socialable activity website with a difference. It focuses wholly on making new friends and sharing common interests. Launched in November 2009, Fresh Friends is a much needed socialable activity outlet for anyone wanting to get the ‘zing’ back in their social life.
As an online portal service, Fresh Friends allows members to communicate with others who have similar interests to either create their own activity or join in with others. Members build relationships and friendships first and foremost and there are no associated pressures as with online dating sites.
Members can easily create their own activity, at the time and place of their choice. Alternatively, they can join in the fun of other members’ activities. Fresh Friends has an amazing array of activities to choose from and our categories cover all aspects of social gatherings. It allows our members to now have the choice to be involved, make new friendships and activate their social lives.
Fresh Friends is not only for singles, but incorporates groups, families, couples, charities, businesses, clubs, organisations, restaurants, sporting associations, hobby fanatics and whoever else has something exciting and positive to offer our members.
Our goal is to help people meet around social activities which they can organise themselves or get involved in with other members’ activities. Our members are from all walks of life, different ages, married, single, individuals, couples, social groups, organisations, charities and families who are looking at socialising and getting that ‘zing’ back in their lives.
Let Fresh Friends bring that zing, zip, oomph, verve and spirit back into your social life now.
How does ‘fresh friends’ work?
It’s so easy. Fresh Friends allows you to start socialising and networking again while making new friends who have the same interests as yourself.
Registration and membership is free, so once you do this you can log in and start getting that ‘zing’ back in your life.
Browse the site to see if there are any activities you are interested in and simply contact those members. You can do this by contacting them via the site, or if they have their contact details listed on the activity, simply get in touch with them.
But the best part, is posting an activity that excites you. It’s so simple – post your activity and pay a small fee which is $4 for individuals and $20 for associations (see listings under activities section).
Your activity will immediately be placed on the site once you have paid and will automatically be posted on the most recent activities on the front page. It will also be noted in the activities section so that other members can view and contact you.
That’s it!
Registering
How do I register?
It’s the easiest and quickest registration form ever.
Click on ‘register’ and simply fill out the form.
All information is needed, but we want you to know that your personal information is not visible by other members. Only your username appears to others.
Click on ‘submit’ when finished.
We don’t like spam much, so you will receive an email once you register which allows us to verify your email address. You can then login and begin.
We also provide you with an email which outlines your password and username for your records.
We will ask you for your date of birth to ensure that you are the legal age of 18 years or over. We also request your phone number in the event we need to contact you regarding any account details.
You are now ready to login and start contacting other registered members about their activity or post your own activity.
Do I have to be a registered member to place an activity on the site?
Yes you do. The site will not allow you to place an activity or contact anyone without registering first.
Username
Why do I need a username?
This is your identification so that others will know who you are. Please do not use your real first or surname.

Your password allows you to log into the site. It is your personal identification that only allows YOU to log in. We encourage you, not to give your password to anyone, so that you keep your identification and information secure.
Who sees my password?
You are the only one that sees your password – no other member has access to it.
I forgot my password – what do I do?

Logging In
How do I login?
Easy! Enter your Username and Password into the login section and click ‘submit’.
What is ‘remember me?’
If you are using the same computer, once you have ticked the ‘remember me’ section, your computer will automatically remember your password when logging in.
It is best not to tick the ‘remember me’ section if others are also using your computer. This is for your benefit and will make it easier to log in.
Why can’t I login?
It’s normally a simple reason.
Check that your password and username is correct.
Take care that you have entered your details in correctly, as they are case sensitive.
You may have entered in the wrong password and if you need to check if it is correct – click on the ‘recover password’ section and enter your email address – we will send it to you.
If all fails – contact us directly.
Membership
Why should I become a member?
If you want to get that zing, zest and zip back in your social life, then not only is it free to become a member, but it allows you to look through all the different activities other members have on.
As a member you will have contact access with other members and can post your own activity.
What are the benefits of being a member?
Inexpensive – Posting an activity is cheap and easy.
No Pressure - Fresh Friends is not an online dating site and takes the pressure off our members – it’s about sharing interests and having fun. But, should you find romance – then it’s an additional benefit. Get to know people first, be yourself and you never know who you will meet.
Safe - As you normally meet in a group environment, we know that safety is in numbers. If you accept an ‘invitation only’ activity, we suggest you meet the person first and tell someone where you are going and be contactable via phone. Fresh Friends is low risk as you make up your mind where and what you want to attend and be a part of.
Instant Enjoyment - You don’t have to wait weeks to start going out, there are so many activities that are almost immediate and loads to choose from.
Scope of People - Fresh Friends caters for all age brackets, males, females, groups, singles, individuals, families, associations, charities, etc who come from all walks of life.
Flexible - You set the rules for yourself and pick the time and place that suits you. Or you can easily get involved with other members’ activities.
Fun - Fresh Friends is not an online dating site and therefore allows you to just socialise and enjoy yourself in mainly group participation.
Members - We project 5,000 to 10,000 activities will go through our site in its first year of operation and increase thereafter.
Audience - We are Australia wide and anyone and everyone is included - from the big cities, to the suburbs, regional / country areas and the outback.
Non Judgemental - Fresh Friends is about accepting people for who they are and not what they look like. Fresh Friends treats all members equally, regardless of their age, religion, background, race, etc.
If I cancel my membership, can I return later?
Of course you can. We all need to prioritise our lives and some things need to be put on hold. Just suspend your membership and return when it suits you, or just don’t be involved for a period of time.
Does it cost to become a registered member?
No, membership is free.
Demographics
Demographics show that the majority of our members reside in all the cities and territories of Australia. However Fresh Friends is available to all our country and rural friends as well.
Our demographics show that our members vary in age from 25 to 65. The majority of members are between 30 to 55 years of age, but we have something for everyone.
Who are the other registered members? What are they like?
Everyone is welcomed to our site and you will find our registered members are from all walks of life.
They are normal individuals like you, who are looking at increasing their circle of friends who want to start socialise again without any complications or expectations.
Our members are made up of couples, families, individuals, singles, groups, social groups, sporting clubs, hobby associations, charities and numerous other alliances who are looking at meeting new interesting people to enjoy events and outings with.
Our registered members are indiscriminate individuals who due to circumstances or choice don’t always have the opportunity to meet other exciting personalities who are on the same wave length, so that’s where ‘fresh friends’ can help.
Members vary in age, backgrounds, careers and interests – but all have one thing in common. They want to get the zing, the passion, the punch, pizzazz, oomph, get up and go, vigour and freshness back in their social life.
Not only do we have Gen X, Y and Baby Boomers involved in a variety of activities, but also social groups, sporting clubs, workshop organisations, charities and a variety of alliances that are looking for interesting people who want to get involved in anything from scuba diving, hot air ballooning, cooking, or anything that takes your fancy.
Is it just for singles?
Absolutely not!
As mentioned previously, we have people from all walks of life.
A large percentage are unattached, but we also have couples, families, groups of friends, sporting clubs, associations, hobby workshops, etc – who just want to socialise with others and become involved in a variety of activities.
You can easily specify an age bracket or gender in your posted activity, but don’t forget that everyone has an interesting story to tell about themselves.
How do I block a member?

Click ‘suspended’ on their account status and this will block that particular member.

What if I am not a registered member and want to contact someone about their activity?

Just tell them.
We ask that you treat others as you would like to be treated and therefore a courtesy phone call or email is best in responding to a member.
Sometimes it happens that you are seeking a specific age group or have had an overwhelming response but do have the courtesy of informing the responding member via site email, normal email or phone that you already have enough members interested in your activity.
What if I can’t make it to an activity?
It happens.
At times the unexpected catches us by surprise. However, please have the courtesy to let the other member know as quickly as possible to avoid disappointment, as they may be able to contact another member that a place has come up, or make other arrangements. Contact this member via site email normal email or phone.
When organising a restaurant or particular events, it is essential to have the correct guest numbers.
If I receive a response from a member – do I have to respond to them?
Of course you do! Would you not want someone to respond to you?
Let’s face it, we are all busy people, but wouldn’t you expect someone to respond to you? If another member has taken the time to respond to your activity – then you know what to do. If however you can’t be bothered – then we suggest you find another site as our members pride themselves on being courteous and friendly.

Does it have to be an activity for a group only?

When an activity is posted by you, only the activity details are visible by other members – activity; when; suburb / state; seeking; age; posted by (your username); activity (details you wrote about your activity); contact details & cost (what you entered on your activity; posted (time and date you posted the activity).
What if I want to post a social activity and a business activity, how do I do that and what does it cost?
Good question.
You can easily post both activities up, but will have to do this separately as they are different price categories.
If you have a social activity to post and are an individual (private), then the cost is $4 for 1 month, however you may also be a maths tutor who wants to let others know about your service.
Go through the normal ‘post your activity’ requirements and note that you are ‘private’, so we know where to place your activity and charge you correctly. Once you have paid, go back and do the same ‘post your activity’ and this time note that you are an ‘association’, so again we know where to place your activity and charge you correctly. The cost for an association is $20 for 1 month and you will be taken to PayPal to pay for this activity.
You may feel that you are not an association, but just an individual that is undertaking a bit of extra work – ie maths tutoring, but you are still classed in the association category and therefore the cost is slightly higher.
What if I want to put 2 activities up, but they are in different price categories - do I get a discount?
We would love to accommodate you, but our costs are minimal and therefore you will need to post 2 separate activities.
What if I post my activity and choose the incorrect price category?
Sometimes this happens.
If you have overpaid for an activity – ie private and ticked the association price category, please contact us at - contact us and we will have it moved over to the correct category – you will also have a credit to use for future activities.
If you are an association and have placed it under a private price category, please contact us and we will move it to the correct category - however we will require payment first. In the event that you do not inform Fresh Friends, we will automatically have the activity removed with no refund forthcoming.
I want to place an activity up for something other than an activity – am I allowed to do this?
We understand what you mean and although we try to accommodate all areas, we are very open to adding another category if it is in line with our philosophy and or Terms of Business. Please contact us and we will try to assist you.
I can’t find the correct category for my activity?
We understand that new and interesting activities are constantly being developed and we try hard to ensure we have covered a variety of social outings. However please contact us and we would be happy to add another category if it is needed and is in line with our philosophy and or Terms of Business.
How do I close / delete my activity?
Easy!
If you are posting an activity and have changed your mind before paying, you can delete the activity – by going to ‘my account’; new activity; post your activity; submit; and on the following page you will find the ‘delete’ item’ button which you need to click and your activity will be deleted.
If you have already posted your activity and have decided to take it off the site. Go to ‘my account; activities; and click on the ‘my activities’ button. The next page will bring up all your activities – simply tick the correct activity box and click ‘delete selected’. You activity will now be completed deleted.
Remember once you delete an activity it cannot be reinstated as is permanent and to redo it, will cost you the nominated price.
How do I make changes to my activity?
Changes can be made once the activity has been paid for.
Go to ‘my account’ page and under ‘activities’ click on the ‘new activities’ section.
On this next page, you will see all your activities noted. Click on the activity and your activity details will come up. In this section, make the changes (the only changes you can’t make is to move it into a different price category as this is already set).
Click on the ‘submit’ button and your activity details have been altered.
To check, go back into your activity to see the changes.
Shopping Cart
What is the shopping cart for?
The shopping cart is just another term for ‘order’, that’s all. When you post your activity, it goes into a shopping cart, ready for check out (payment). The cart also allows you to purchase more than one activity at any time. Let’s say you are looking for a group to join you to watch the rugby at the pub and also happen to want a group to join you for a movie night. This allows you to place two activities at one time – but most people tend to pay for one activity at a time as they find this easier.
Upon your purchase/s, the site will take you to PayPal to pay for your activities (purchases).
Search
How do I search for activities?
We have made this as easy as possible for you.
Click on the ‘search activity’ section.
At the top of the page, it will ask you if you are 'looking for a specific calendar date' or 'open to any days'.
If you are searching for a specific calendar date - click on the ‘search for a particular date here’ section. Fill in the sections – activities; When - date or month; and seeking – the associated activities will come up for you to view.
If you are searching for an open day activity (anytime soon) – click on the ‘search for anytime soon here’ section. Fill in the sections – activities; when; seeking; - the associated activities will come up for you to view.
What is the Advanced Search?
This gives you a bit more information when searching.
Click on the ‘search activity’ section.
As with a normal search, note if you are searching for a specific calendar date or an open to any days activity – (as above).
You will be required to fill in the sections as above, but can also look for – suburb / state; age; and activities with images.
Can I search for a member?
As Fresh Friends is about activities, you can only search for activities that pertain to members and not members that pertain to activities./p>
Contacting other Members
How do I contact other registered members about an activity?
Easy!
When you find the activity you are interested in, you can contact this member a number of different ways.
Via the site - If you prefer to contact them via the site simply click on the ‘send a message’ . A pop up form will be displayed and you just write the message, the site will ensure that your message is delivered. Some members prefer to be contacted via the site and do not display their personal email or phone details under the contact section of their activity.
Via email or phone – Some members find it easier to be contacted via their own personal email address or phone number as this speeds up the process of finding interested members in their activity. Note their details and contact them.
How do I contact other members if there are no contact details on their activity?
The reason there are no contact details noted on the member’s activity, is because they prefer to be contacted via the site for privacy reasons.
Simply follow the steps mentioned above of how to contact other registered members about an activity.
Costs
Is there a cost for me to contact other members about their posted activity?
No, there is no cost to contact other members about their posted activity.
If I receive a response from a member – does it cost me to respond back to them?
No, there is no cost at all.
Does it cost to become a registered member?
No, membership is free.
Is there a refund policy?
As our fees are extremely low, we do not give a refund. Check your activity properly before you submit to avoid mistakes.
Uploading Images
Can organisations / clubs upload a logo?
Yes, we encourage you to do so.
Is there a benefit to uploading my photo or image?
Sure is.....
Having an image explains your activity quickly to members that are searching and gets their attention, so we recommend uploading an image / logo / photo.
How do I upload a photo / image / logo?
Just click on the ‘add image’ section and a pop up screen will direct you.
From here find your image and apply.
The new image will automatically be visible.
Photo / logo / image – this will be viewed in your profile page by other members. However, if you do not upload a photo / logo / image when you post an activity – the profile photo / logo / image will automatically be visible on your activity.
We suggest that as an active member of ‘fresh friends’ you will want to post your own activity and therefore it is better to leave this section (profile photo / logo / image section) blank, as it also gives you privacy, however this is up to you.
Instead add a photo / logo / image to your activity, as it will be the activity section photo / logo / image that will show up on your posted activity.
Activities without a photo / logo / image will automatically show the profile photo / logo / image you uploaded.
Activities and profiles without a photo / logo / image will have no image showing on their activity.
If you would like to add a photo / logo / image to your profile section, remember to also add an event activity photo / logo / image to your newly created activity. When other members view your profile page they will see one - photo / logo / image and when they view your activity, they will see another.
If you have a number of activities up on the site, remember to add a new photo / logo / image every time you post a new activity.
Is there a cost involved in upload a photo or image?
Not at all – it is free to upload a photo, image or logo.
What sort of image, photo or logo should I post?
Depends.
This depends on you and your activity.
If you are private and are organising a day out at the races – then to get the attention of other members, it is best to upload an image that is related to the activity – ie horses racing.
If you are a business or associations – you may have a logo that you would like members to see. However let’s say you are a sole trader – a maths tutor and don’t have a website or logo – then find an image that portrays what you do.
If you are a charity or not for profit organisation, more than likely you will have a logo, if not, again use an image that best describes what you do.
Do I have to upload an image?
Not at all.
This is up to you, but you will notice that the majority of members do.
Having an image explains your activity quickly to members that are searching and gets their attention, so we recommend uploading an image.
Can I upload a photo of myself?
You can, but.....
Members are interested in the activity and meeting new friends, so we doubt that a photo of you, for an activity is going to make a difference to anyone. If you are wanting others to join you in an activity that requires you to wear an outfit and mask, does it matter what you look like?
The only time we recommend a photo be uploaded, is if you are placing an activity under the ‘invitations only’ section, as this is more of a one to one outing.

You can still upload an activity and pay via cheque. However as this takes 5 to 7 working days to clear, your activity cannot be posted immediately until the cheque is cleared. See PayPal for all details.
